Intuition, Self-Reliance, and the Sacred Well of Your Heart

Some of you may be wondering if I’ve been systematically avoiding this blog for the past four months. If you are, you’d be right.

I’ve been in a time of intense inner change, the gooey stage of butterfly creation. Diving deeply into shamanic work. Finding my Presence. Learning about the real medicine I bring to the world.

Helping amazing clients (who keep showing up even when I ignore marketing and focus just on me).

I’ve been moving away from intuitive work, from business intuition, and moving instead into deeper healing work that transforms people at their core.

It hasn’t been easy. It’s taken discipline and laughter and focus. And it has required an enormous inner shift in the way that I view intuition and guidance.

This is one of the key things I’ve learned:

Intuition for yourself turns out to be different from intuition on behalf of others.

It’s subtler, softer, requiring a gentle hand and courageous heart.

And there’s way more at risk. Your own decisions. Your own relationships. Your own life–not your client’s.

In my shamanic studies, I’ve grown very close to the helping spirits who provide me with detailed information in answer to my clients’ questions, and loving guidance to get them out of pickles.

But this year, when I tried to use these same tactics to get answers to my own questions, the spirits went mum.

I had to find my answers for myself.

Time for a healthy dose of self-reliance.

Time to find intuition for my own life within me.

Not outside of me. Not in the spirits, as wonderful as they are. Not in the fast-paced methods I’ve used for clients, not in the reading techniques I’ve trained others in, not in anything but stillness and quiet.

And I’ve found it. Unexpectedly and rather marvelously. Here I am, the stillness says, and here your treasure lies. Wisdom, guidance, and certainty have bubbled up from a sacred well that I can only find in my own heart.

If your intuition is rock-solid when you use it on behalf of another but goes all limp when you consult it for yourself, you’re in good company. You don’t need an intuitive reader. You don’t need a magic arrow. You don’t need anything outside of your own awareness.

And the willingness to look within, to the sacred well of your heart.

Do this today: Bring your life question to your heart. Slow down. Breathe. Stop paying attention to the images or other sensations that flash through your mind. Even if they help you be intuitive for others. Even if they’re accurate.

Let them go.

Just breathe. Stay here in your body. This is your home.

When you let go of trying, the wisdom will come.

Having the same dream could also be a joy. But when one of you achieves that dream and the other doesn’t, there is a possibility that the one who failed may dislike the one who attained success because that one reminds him so much of his own failures.

Self seeking is somewhat very hard unless you accept that you really need it and willing to change the things that you find important for your own growth, psychically and spiritually.
